First read this entire webpage in its entirety before you begin. Here is the Rubric for PO#6, Letter to Mentor

Fill out the information below.  See Mrs. Soeder if you need any specifics. Be sure to ask Mrs. Soeders questions.  You will get a response email from Mrs. Soeder with answers to your questions.  In the meantime begin drafting your email to your mentor.  Before you start filling in this weebly form use the guidelines below.  Your email will need approval prior to sending.

Getting the Internship Organized : Email to Mentor Draft

COPY & PASTE YOUR DRAFT INTO GOOGLE DOC SO IT IS NOT LOST. This email should all the parts of a letter. You should use a proper/formal salutation. You should introduce yourself and state your enthusiasm for the upcoming opportunity. You should ask about the schedule. Explain you will be released every MWF at 1:30 and could be to the site by ____. You ask if they prefer you work 2-3 hours at a time or get the full amount of hours done all at once for the week. You need to know how many hours you'll need each week based on travel time. See Mrs. Soeder. You should provide all relevant contact information. Once your draft email is approved you will want to send the email to your mentor to begin confirming your specific schedule.
Submit
Before you click submit please copy and paste your draft email into a google doc or even in an email to yourself.  Once you click submit your typed words will be gone and odds are, you did a pretty good job so you'll want to use them when you communicate for real that first time.

GUIDELINES FOR Email to Mentor:
Your first communication with your new mentor is your chance to make a positive first impression.
This is your chance to organize your thoughts and draft what you will say to your mentor about starting your internship.
Here is the Rubric for PO#6, Letter to Mentor

SUGGESTION for Draft EMAIL to Mentor:
Your draft email should begin with a traditional salutation such as "Dear Mr./Ms. _______________," and then you'll want to start the body of your message on the next line down.

Introduce yourself to your mentor, state your name and year at Perry High School.  You could even say why you're taking this course or maybe something about what sparked your interests in this given field.

Explain the number of hours you'll need each week and that you plan to start on_______________.  Include the hours that work for your schedule but be flexible and acknowledge that you want to make sure that this works for your mentor as well.

Mention that you will have one form (Business Partner Agreement Form) that needs to be reviewed and completed the first day and you hope there will be time to handle this.

Please include that your hours will be verified using an online system called x2vol and you'll need your mentor's preferred email to ensure that this verification goes to a frequently checked address.

Ask if there are any special instructions as far as where to meet and how to dress that first day.  Be sure to express your enthusiasm and appreciation in advance.

Conclude your email with an appropriate closing, such as "Sincerely" or "Thank You." I would encourage you to have a fellow intern read your draft.  I want to encourage you to work together so that you get it right!
