The Return to Goal Setting
The end is near. Do you remember why you even took this course? Consider your goals for next semester, for next year, for your life beyond next year? Did you get out of it what you thought you would? So, what's next for you? How will your interests, personality, and values align with your future goals?
VLOGGING
Use Video Blogging (Vlogging) to answer the following questions about your goals.
Email your Vlog to Mrs. Soeder at [email protected]. Consider the questions before you start answering. Send one question to Mrs. Soeder at a time. Answers are done as Vlogs and should not exceed 2 minutes in length. You should check with Mrs. Soeder before you start the next Vlog to make sure it's working. You will have one class period to vlog all 5 responses.
Vlog# 1. Remember why you took this course? Explain your reasoning. Now, consider how the semester went for you. Did you get out of the course what you thought you would? If yes, explain. If no, why do you think that is?
Vlog #2. Let's consider your goals. Open Infinite Campus and write your second semester schedule. Do you have any electives? If so, what Pathway do they come from? If no electives what electives do you want to take next year? What pathway do they come from? In closing explain the pathway that you best connect with here at Perry. How do you know this is "your pathway?" What did you learn about your interests, personality, or values that lead you to believe this pathway best suits you?
Vlog#3. Consider your four-year plan. Pretend you are explaining your plan to someone new. Explain what classes you'll take between now and graduation. How do the classes you will take connect to your overall goals? How do they reflect what you have learned about yourself? If you are about to graduate how do your plans for next year connect to your overall goals? How do they reflect what you have learned about yourself?
Vlog #4. Consider your involvement at PHS beyond academics. Identify a goal directly connected to involvement. Consider where you are already involved and how you could improve your contribution. Consider how you are not yet involved and how you can leave your mark on our fine school. Outline the steps you need to take to achieve this goal. This goal should be written using the standards of a SMART goal.
Vlog #5. Hopefully it's no secret that life is WAY more than school and WAY more than work. Your work and your life as a student is just a piece of who you are. While it is my hope that you never stop learning, school will end and someday (we hope) you will retire. Should you be fortunate enough to live one of these long fruitful lives what kind of life do you want to live? How will others remember you? This is far more important than the degree you earn or the job you have.
